Djokovic will not recognise Zivojinovic appointment

Problems continue within the Serbian Tennis Federation.

Here is a translated article from Blic Online.

Electoral assembly of the Serbian Tennis Federation is scheduled for today, 4pm, with a single candidate in the running for the presidential post of the top tennis body – Slobodan Zivojinovic.

Meanwhile, Serbian top players are opposing Zivojinovic’s re-election, with their interests represented by Srdjan Djokovic, father of world’s number 3 Novak Djokovic.

The electoral assembly will be illegitimate because the meeting of the Board of directors has not been held, at which the electoral assembly’s meeting date is adopted. We have not accepted the electronic assembly as it is also illegal. How can it possibly be legal when during the procedure of the voting for the proposed agenda – the passing of the Statute and the passing of the financial report – five Board members voted, out of which three were against, two were absent and five votes ballots were invalid,” said Milan Jerinkic, a top official at the Vojvodina Tennis Federation.

The vice-president of STF eight days ago announced Djokovic would name his own counter-candidate to Zivojinovic ahead of the electoral assembly.

- “We will not be revealing any names because we do not want to put respectable business people into something unresolved. We can’t talk candidates when there was not even a legal assembly meeting.”

Jerinkic believes Djokovic’s side will succeed in their intention to prevent Zivojinovic from winning over the majority of votes.

- “We will try in a democratic way to explain why this assembly is illegitimate. If we fail to persuade the majority, at least we will have tried,” said Jerinkic.

Toplica backs Zivojinovic

Slobodan Zivojinovic has announced who he will be proposing as candidates for seats on the Serbian Tennis Federation board should he be re-elected president of STF.

“I will nominate Toplica Spasojevic as the president of the Board of directors, while as the body’s members I will put forward Slobodana Vucicevic (NCA investment), Slobodan Petrovic (Salford), Slavko Caric (Erste bank), Djordje Antelj (Gemax), Dragan Lazarevic (EKI investment), Branislav Stojakovic (Eurosalon).
